Description

Full day excursion to Amorgos from the island of Naxos.

Amorgos is the island where the film “The Big Blue” was shot. It has been the inspiration for many artists and most of its visitors come back almost every year.

The wild beauty, the mountainous landscapes, the deep blue of the sea and the traditional life fascinate the traveler.

Do not miss the opportunity to visit the picturesque Chora and visit the monastery of Hozoviotisa, built on the highest point of a steep rock 300 meters above the Aegean Sea, which is visible only from the sea. The monastery is an example of human triumph over nature, a wonder that will leave you amazed.

Itinerary

Departure from Naxos at 08.45hrs

Arrival at Amorgos at 11.50hrs (stay  for 5hrs)

Departure from Amorgos at 17.00hrs

Arrival at Naxos at19.45 hrs

We depart from the city of Naxos at 08.45 in the morning and arrive at the port of Katapola on the island of Amorgos at 11:50 a.m. From the port of Katapola, you can take the bus to the town of Chora or to the Monastery of Hozoviotissa, the most impressive monument and patron saint of the island.

This monastery is built on the edge of a steep rock and offers breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Below the monastery is the beach of Agia Anna where you can enjoy a relaxing swim in the crystal clear waters. Back to Chora, the main town of Amorgos, you can walk through the narrow streets and see the white houses with flower gardens.

If you do not wish to take the bus, you can stay in Katapola and enjoy a nice swim on the nearby beaches. At lunchtime we recommend you to sit in one of the many fish taverns in Katapola to enjoy a delicious meal. At 05.00 pm we leave the port of Katapola and arrive in Naxos at 07:45 pm.
