We will discover the castles and fortresses of the Peloponnese region in Greece.

The need to protect themselves from the invasions of their enemies led the Greeks to build great fortifications and imposing castles that many of which date back to Byzantine times.

The trip will begin in Athens and take us to the South of the Peloponnese. On the way, some of the most beautiful places in Greece are visited. The archaeological treasures of Epidaurus and Mycenae, the charming city of Nafplio with its neoclassical buildings and the fortress of Palamidi from where you will enjoy wonderful views of the city. Traveling further south awaits the Byzantine city of Mistras and the walled city of Monemvasia, a treasure hidden behind a huge rock that protects it. A walk through the narrow alleys of the castle illuminated by lanterns of warm light will travel you to medieval times of knights and pirates.

Arriving at the Mani Peninsula the landscape changes, the terrain becomes rugged and barren. Towers rise on the numerous cliffs. Villages like Vatheia, Gerolimenas will enchant you.

The last days in the Peloponnese visit the southwest of the region, the province of Messina with its castles of Methoni and Pylos and the important city of ancient Messina one of the best-preserved of ancient times.
